USENIX Program Schedule Loader for 3Com Palm devices

Instructions For Use

Plug the power cord in to AC power. Plug the other end of the cord in to the connector on
the right side of the computer.

If you have more than one Palmpilot hotsync cradles, plug the multi-cradle adapter cable in
to the connector on the back of the computer. The serial connector is behind a little door.
Plug one cradle in to each of the connectors at the end of the multi-cradle adapter cable.

Open the lid and turn on power by pressing the power switch in the upper left corner above
the keyboard. If all is well OpenBSD will start up and you should have a login prompt
within three minutes.

If you get a message about bad configuration data, press F2 to enter setup, then F4 to exit
setup. There is no need to change any of the setup data.

Log in as "usenix" with no password. Type the command "usenix". This will start the Palm
loader application. Insert a Pilot in to the cradle and press the hotsync button. It
should take less than a minute to load the data. The computer will then go back and wait
for another Pilot to be inserted.

** If you have two cradles, you can use either one. But you must only use one at a time. **

When you are done for the day, type control-C to interrupt the loader, then "halt" to halt
the system. Within 30 seconds you should see a message saying "The operating system has
halted." Now press the power button and you will get another message saying "Press ENTER to
power off the system..." Press ENTER (it's labeled with a left arrow) and you can
disconnect the power and cradle and put everything away.

In Case Something Goes Wrong: The system is running OpenBSD 3.0. The root password is
"usenix".
